Product Description

VIP5-4AG5-50-S (30004) EMI Filter Product Overview

The VIP5-4AG5-50-S with part number 30004 is a high-current industrial EMC EMI power filter, rated at 50A. It is designed to suppress conducted electromagnetic noise on power lines. This filter supports 380/440VAC rated voltage and works with 50/60Hz power systems.

It delivers excellent noise attenuation performance under the standard 50-ohm test system. When operating at 440VAC and 50Hz, its maximum line-to-ground leakage current is limited to 3.2mA. At 500VDC testing condition, the insulation resistance between input, output terminals and ground exceeds 200M ohm. It can sustain 1-minute high voltage withstand test: 2700VDC line to ground and 2250VDC line to line. The operating temperature spans from -25°C to +85°C, suitable for tough industrial working conditions.

This EMI filter provides bidirectional noise suppression. It protects precision equipment from electromagnetic interference coming from the mains power, and also restrains high-frequency noise generated by industrial loads from polluting the power grid. It helps end machines pass EMC compliance tests and ensures stable long-term operation.

EMI Filter General FAQs (New Set)

FAQ 1: What happens if I select an EMI filter with lower rated current than my equipment load?

If the filter’s rated current is less than the continuous working current of your device, the filter will overheat during operation. Overheating may damage internal inductors and capacitors, degrade filtering performance, and even trigger safety risks. Always choose a filter whose rated current is higher than the maximum continuous load current.

FAQ 2: Is leakage current harmful to my equipment?

Leakage current is an inherent characteristic of EMI filters, caused by the internal Y capacitors. A small leakage current will not harm normal equipment. However, you need to pay attention to this parameter when your system has residual current protection devices, as excessive leakage current may lead to unexpected tripping.

FAQ 3: Can I use this EMI filter for DC power supply systems?

This series EMI filter is designed for AC power circuits. It cannot be applied directly to DC power systems. DC EMI filters adopt different internal component configurations to meet DC noise suppression requirements. Using AC filter on DC lines will not achieve expected filtering effect.

FAQ 4: Why does the same EMI filter show different noise reduction results on different machines?

The filter’s theoretical insertion loss is tested under standard 50-ohm environment. Actual performance is heavily affected by the customer’s wiring method, grounding quality, cable length and surrounding electromagnetic environment. Poor wiring or bad grounding will greatly reduce the real noise suppression effect.

FAQ 5: What are the main components inside an EMI power filter?

A typical EMI filter mainly consists of common-mode inductors, differential-mode inductors, X capacitors and Y capacitors. Common-mode components suppress common-mode noise, while differential-mode components handle differential-mode interference. These components work together to attenuate power line electromagnetic noise.
